Retirement

After i left the army in 1758, i returned to Mount Vernon and i started to rebuild new buildings, refurnishing the houses and experimented with new troops. Then i entered politics serving in 1759-1774 in the Virginia's house of Burgess's. in 1769 i became the leader in Virginia's opposition to great Britain's colonial policies. Then in June 1775 i was Congress's unanimous choice as commander in chief of the continental forces.
I took command of the troops surrounding the British troops on July 3. In the next month's i was training 14,000 army mans. On March 1776, i commended Dorchester Heights to evacuate the city on March 17. After that i moved to New York City, on October 1777 i suffered serious reverses in Pennsylvania. i was responsible for the war. I became president of the society of the Cincinnati. Then i was elected president in 1789.
I left the office in March 1797, everything was under control. After knowing that indian threat east of the Mississippi river had been cancelled, and Jay's Treaty and Pinckney's Treaty with spain had enlarged the U.S territories had been removed from serious diplomatic difficulties. After that i refused to to run for a third term; i warned the United States against permanent alliances abroad after that i went home to Mount Vernon. I was succeeded by my vice-president, Federalist John Adams.
I was in office on April 30, 1789 in New York City, while in office i was careful: hoping to prevent dividing the new nation. After that i became the target of attacks by Jeffersonian Democratic-Republicans. I was reelected president in 1792, the next year the crisis when up out of the ersonal and political conflicts. With this issues of American neutrality during the war between England and France. The Pro-French Jeffersonians was horrified by the French Revolution.

My Life and My Accomplishments

Hello my name is George Washington. I was born on February 22, 1732 in Virginia. I was the first born child of my fathers second marriage. I had two older siblings and five younger siblings. I spent my early life on the family estate on Pope's Creek along the Potomac River. This is where I was also born. There wasn't much education but as far as my education went, I studied mathematics, science, surveying, and the "rules of civility". My favorite was arithmetic. The death of my father prevented me from getting an education in England as my two older brothers had done. My education lasted seven or eight years, mostly tutoring by my father and Lawrence my half brother, and training in surveying. My father died in 1743 and Lawrence took me in and took the role of being my "new" father. I was so thankful for him to do this for me because that was a really hard time in my life.

As I grew older I had wanted to go to sea, but my mom did not like the idea and discouraged me to do that. Instead I turned to surveying. One of my first jobs was to survey Baron (Lord) Fairfax's land on the Shenendoah Valley. That was in 1748. I helped lay out the Virgina town of Belhaven in 1749, and was appointed surveyor of Culpeper County. Soon after this, my brother Lawrence came down with tuberculosis. So me and my other brother Barbados went home and tried to cure him, but it was to late. After my brother passed in 1752, I was the one who inherited the Mount Vernon Estate.

After my brothers death, the Estate wasn't all I took over. I also took over some of his duties as adjutant of the Colony. In 1752 Governor Dinwiddie appointed me a district adjutant of the militia, with the rank of major, I was in charge of training the troops. In 1754, I was named the lieutenant colonel for the mission to Fort Duquesne against the French. The outcome of the mission was not in favor of my troops. But my role in the fight was an example of excellent leadership skills and courage.

In 1783, I voluntarily resigned as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. Also for my victories in the Revolutionary War, some people wanted me to be the king of the new nation. But I wanted this country to be free, united and democratic so I did not become king. But in 1989, I did become the first president of the United States. While I was president, I created the executive and judicial branches of the federal government of the United States. I was reelected president in 1792. Me and my troops fought in many wars, and some more sucressfull than others. I acomplished many good things in my life and as president. But after 8 years of being president, I retired and moved back to Mount Vernon. I sadly didn't live there long due to a throat infection. I died on December 14, 1799.
